Sho is growing up and like all teenage boys, he desires independence and to be able to protect himself without Kei stepping in. The problem is that Mallepa is far more dangerous than the average teenager's hometown so Sho wants a gun for his own safety. But Kei can't just give a gun to the kid he has been raising for the last six years...
Kei and Sho have a pleasant day out in the rain -- one of few, since Kei can usually only go outside at night. When they get home, tension left over from Sho's birthday threatens to come to a head.
Kei asked Sho to get a life of his own and not to adjust his life to a vampire’s but after many refusals, Sho actually listens. Now Kei doesn’t know what to do -- or whether or not Sho can keep himself out of trouble.
Kei and Sho have only known each other for a few months. Kei ponders the boy's tireless drive to better himself when he comes home one early morning to find Sho still awake and studying hard.
